UL Certification

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is an American safety consulting and certification company that was established in 1894. UL provides safety-related certification, validation, testing, inspection, auditing, advising and training services to a wide range of clients. This includes manufacturers, retailers, policymakers, regulators, service companies, and consumers. The basis of a UL listing for a central station means the station and the services it provides have been evaluated for compliance with the applicable UL standards. ProNet Security Solutions is proud to carry two UL certifications: UL 681 and UL 2050.

Many monitoring stations who seek the UL 2050 find it difficult to obtain, as it requires additional expenses to implement new training programs and procedures to meet the requirements. UL 2050 is the standard the security industry must follow to service U.S. federal government facilities. The UL 2050 designation indicates that the company has met an additional set of strict requirements and that it has personnel on duty who are specially trained to handle signals received from National Industrial Security Systems – systems used by the United States Department of Defense and other high-level government agencies.

UL 681 describes installation of alarm equipment at the protected property and requires UL site visits to the central station and protected properties as well as service tests to ensure comprehensive delivery of services.
